Main Properties of High Solid Epoxy Paint
Epoxy paint is composed of epoxy resin, body pigment and curing agent. It can be widely used on the surfaces of various light metal and cement structures indoors and outdoors.
Materials are painted with special high solid epoxy primer to improve adhesion. Its good anti-corrosion and water resistance, suitable for waterlogged areas. Good drying and curing properties make it particularly suitable for water conservancy construction materials.
Polymer Anti-Corrosion Topcoat
The topcoat requires good corrosion resistance. Polymer anti-corrosion paint has good acid, alkali and salt corrosion resistance, and excellent water, oil and weather resistance. Base Material: Fiberless cement asbestos board, formed by scraping method, with two layers coating.
First Layer: High Solid Epoxy Paint
Second Layer: Polymer Anti-Corrosion Topcoat
The customer need to measure the thickness of the two layers separately.
The quality and thickness of the primer and topcoat are very important to the performance of asbestos board, which is related to the service life of the asbestos board. Too thin coating is more likely to be damaged than a thick one, because it’s easy to have leaks, water and oxygen can easily and faster penetrate the thin layer. For harsh use environments, it is necessary to increase the coating thickness appropriately, but too thick coating may sometimes cause wrinkles. This will result in poor adhesion of the coating to the substrate and easy to fall off. To prevent wrinkling, the coating process should be standardized and the thickness of each layer coating should be controlled.
Measurement Analysis
Portable ultrasonic thickness gauge using ultrasonic principle make convenient and fast measurement . The coating thickness can be detected anytime, the measurement results can be stored for analysis.
We use YUSHI PM5 Gen2 ultrasonic thickness gauge to visually and accurately determine the echo condition through real-time A-scan waveforms. Matching a 15-20M single crystal delay line probe, the ultrasonic wave enters the coating through the couplant and reflects on surfaces with different densities. The coating thickness reading is obtained by measuring the time it takes for the ultrasonic signal to travel from the probe to the coating-coating/coating-substrate interface and back. The time is divided by 2 and multiplied by the sound velocity of the coating to obtain the thickness of the coating.
Measuring Results
After testing, using YUSHI PM5 Gen2 ultrasonic thickness gauge with a 15M delay line probe, the measured value is stable, the echo is clear, and the result is accurate.
