Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge Measures The Wall Thickness of PVC, PE, PTFE, PP-R, PB, and ABS Plastic Pipes
About Plastic Pipe
Among non-metallic pipelines, plastic pipes are the most widely used.
During the production process, the wall thickness of plastic pipes must be tested to see if the wall thickness meets the technical requirements. If the wall is too thin, it may break during use. If the wall is too thick, too much raw material will be wasted. Ultrasonic thickness measurement is a fast and reliable way to measure the wall thickness of pipes, because this method only needs to contact one side of the material to be measured, without cutting the pipe. If the monitor multiple points in the production process is needed, then our multi-channel measurement option can be chosen. Ultrasonic thickness gauges can also measure the wall thickness of in-service pipes to detect their wall thickness changes during use.
Product Samples
We receive many plastic pipe samples used in different industries. Customers require the wall thickness and consistency to be measured to check whether their products meet the technical specifications.
Measurement Analysis
Plastic pipe thickness measurement is a common application of ultrasonic thickness gauges. The measurement process involves a simple pulse/echo detection, in which an ultrasonic thickness gauge measures the round trip propagation time of the pulse and calculates the thickness value using the time value and the sound velocity of the material under test. For common sizes of plastic pipe, 5-15MHz probe can be used to measure wall thickness of approximately 0.5-25mm, 2.25 MHz probe can be used to measure wall thickness of approximately 25-80mm, and 0.5MHz probe can be used to measure thickness over 80mm. For special materials, please contact us for specific advice on probe selection.
Ultrasonic thickness gauges can be used to measure the thickness of all common plastic materials, including containers, pipes, tubes, plates, etc. If you have the same measurement requirements or problems, please feel free to contact us, we will provide you with specific suggestions on instrument and probe selection, and provide you with professional measurement solutions.
