Thickness Measurement of Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)
Material introduction
Polytetrafluoroethylene (Poly tetrafluoroethylene), abbreviated as PTFE, commonly known as "King of Plastics", trade name Teflon®, which has excellent chemical stability, high heat resistance, cold resistance, low friction coefficient, high strength, non-toxic, good insulation and other characteristics. Widely used in atomic energy, national defense, aerospace, electronics, electrical, chemical, machinery, instruments, meters, construction, textile, metal surface treatment, pharmaceutical, medical, textile, food, metallurgical smelting and other industries, making it an irreplaceable product .
The performance testing of these materials is indispensable in the process of safe use. Using an ultrasonic thickness gauge to measure whether the material thickness is up to standard and uniform is the main means and method to control product quality.
PTFE sample
We receive some samples from users, mainly pipes with high wear and corrosion resistance requirements. By using polytetrafluoroethylene PTFE pipe, the normal operation of pipeline production and transportation can be ensured.
YUSHI UM-5 series ultrasonic thickness gauge was used for testing and comparison, the results show that the low-frequency TC110 composite crystal probe is selected to measure the PTFE material of different thicknesses. We can see the echo is clear, and the measurement value is correct.

Tips:
Fluoroplastic (PFA), also known as soluble polytetrafluoroethylene, is often used in industrial applications, especially laboratory equipment and industrial tubing, semiconductors, etc.
When the diameter of the pipe is small or higher measurement accuracy is required, we can use YUSHI PM-5 series with a single crystal delay line probe to measure it, please contact us for detailed functions.
